Amazon Bans E-Liquids

The upcoming disposable vape ban is set to take effect in a mere matter of months here in the United Kingdom and whilst this has been looming there has been a lot of speculation about what else retailers are going to impose restrictions on when it comes to vaping products.

News broke last week from Amazon that they are enforcing new rules as of June 1st to restrict the sale of e-liquids on the online shopping platform as well as other restrictions being enforced.

Read on to learn everything you need to know about these impending restrictions and how to prepare yourself should you be an avid Amazon user for your e-liquid purchases!

Amazon To Ban The Sale Of All E-Liquids & Disposable Vapes

Whilst nicotine containing vaping products have not been permitted for sale on Amazon since TPD regulations came into force in 2016, the e-commerce tycoons have allowed the sale of nicotine free e-liquids as well as zero nicotine disposable vapes on their platform.

However, communications from Amazon have now been sent to merchants and online retailers using the platform to give notice that as of June 1st 2025, they will be following the precedent set by the UK Gov with their own ban of disposable vapes, but this has also captured e-liquids as well, regardless of if they contain nicotine or not. Below is an excerpt from the official communication which reads;

Effective June 1, 2025, we’ll prohibit selling partners from listing any products that contain e-liquids on Amazon.co.uk and any active listings will be deactivated. These products include the following categories, even if they don’t contain nicotine or tobacco:

  • E-liquids, liquids intended to be used in electronic cigarettes or similar vaporizing devices or used to refill such devices, whether or not they contain nicotine 
  • E-cigarettes containing e-liquids, such as pre-filled e-cigarettes and disposable e-cigarettes 
  • Any other products containing e-liquids 

We have decided to restrict the sale of these consumable products when sold individually, as part of kits or included with devices. Disposable vape products will be prohibited on Amazon.co.uk.

Disposable Vape Ban In The UK From June 1st 2025

In case you didn't already know, disposable vapes are set to be banned from sale in the UK as of June 1st 2025. This was announced at the very tail end of last year by current Prime Minister Keir Starmer, which is a continuation of the Tobacco and Vapes Bill which was first initiated by former PM Rishi Sunak.

The Tobacco and Vapes Bill was created in a bid to stop the start of a new generation of nicotine addicts by increasing the legal smoking age by one year with every year that passes. As well as this, vaping restrictions were also suggested with the desire to restrict flavourings as well as packaging to make vaping less appealing to an underage audience.

But the main stand out was the intent to ban the sale of disposable vapes in the UK as these were deemed to be the root cause of the problems with youth vaping numbers increasing. While the restrictions for flavour and packaging are yet to be confirmed, the disposable ban is set to be enforced as of June 1st 2025, just six months after the initial announcement was made.

This ban will bring an end to the supply and sale of popular disposable vapes like Lost Mary BM600 and Elf Bar in retail shops as well as online as the 6 month sell through period is occuring as we speak, having started when the announcement was made back in December - If you are a disposable vaper currently, you will need to find an alternative before the 1st June if you intend to continue vaping, thankfully we have plenty of advice to help you make the best decision.

With the Governments plans well underway, the announcement from Amazon has ruffled even more feathers within the vaping industry as they are taking the ban one step further.
