Can You Take Nicotine Pouches on a Plane?

Yes, you can take your nicotine pouches on a plane when travelling. There are currently no restrictions in place regarding nic pouches on aircraft, with the exception of America's TSA, which treat them in the same way as other more common NRTs like nicotine gum or other powdered substances - menaing they must not exceed 12 ounces in weight - equivalent to approximately 20 packs of nic pouches. As laws are constantly changing however it is advised you confirm with your travel provider before packing!

The short answer to this question is yes, you can take nicotine pouches onto a plane with you. From our research, most major airlines used around the world do not appear to have any restrictions or regulations on taking nicotine pouches aboard a plane with you.

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) are the administration which oversees all USA airline travel, and they  have published a small section on their website regarding carrying nicotine pouches either to the USA or flying out from the USA and passing through their security system.

They do not class nicotine as a harmful substance, and they fall under the same category as other forms of nicotine replacement therapy such as nicotine gum or nicotine lozenges which have no restrictions imposed on them.

The only thing that we could find of some relevance from the TSA is that they have a restriction on powder-like substances cannot exceed 12oz total weight. This is equivalent to around 20 cans of nicotine pouches (as the pouches contain a form of powdered nicotine) so unless you were planning to carry your nic pouches in bulk, you shouldn't have any problems taking them on board with you.

Where To Store Nicotine Pouches In Your Luggage On a Plane?

Nicotine pouches can be kept in either your checked-in baggage in the hold or in your hand luggage. If you are planning to use nic pouches when aboard the flight, it makes the most sense to store them or at least a containier or two in your hand luggage for easy access during the flight to manage cravings discreetly.

You can bring nicotine pouches in either your checked bag which goes into the hold, or in your hand luggage that stores in the overhead compartment within the cabin. Out of the two, it would make most sense to store them in your carry-on luggage which you have access to all times.

This is so that you can grab your can of nic pouches at any time during your flight and pop a pouch in as and when you start to feel those cravings for nicotine creeping in.

Can You Use Nicotine Pouches On A Plane?

Yes you can use nic pouches aboard an aircraft - there are currently no restrictions in place saying you cannot use them, and they make an ideal alternative solution for people who normally use e-cigarettes to manage cravings. As vaping is banned aboard almost every major airline's planes, smokeless, tobacco-free nic pouches are a discreet option to get you through those longer flight times.

Yes, you can use nicotine pouches whilst on an aeroplane. It's quite important as well that you correctly dispose of your used nicotine pouches correctly and in the most sanitary way possible.

Each can has a compartment under the lid where you can put your used pouches, or dispose of them in a rubbish bin if one is nearby.

Nicotine pouches represent one of the best alternatives for vapers who are travelling longhaul or to destinations where vaping is banned - using nic pouches as a companion or temporary alternative can help you discreetly manage cravings without needing to relapse to cigarettes which can be very tempting in countries where they are cheap and abundant!

Are There Regulations On Nicotine Pouches Abroad?

While many countries do not yet have regulaitons for nicotine pouches in place, there are those that do. Canada only permits one brand for sale currently: Zonnic and personal imports of strengths higher than 4mg are prohibited. Other brands are available in fringe retailers  across canada but are considered illicit. The Netherlands and Belgium have completely banned the importation and sale of nic pouches in the country so you must not bring them with you if heading to Dutch destinations. In New Zealand they cannot be bought or sold, but you can bring them with you for personal consumption. As they are such a new product, laws around nic pouches are constantly changing so it is best to do your own research before travelling with them.

Many popular tourist destination countries do not have any regulations on nicotine pouches, and they are sold freely with no restrictions.

However, there are a few countries which have imposed restrictions on nicotine pouches as we explain below;

Canada - In Canada, there is only one brand of nicotine pouch permitted for general sale and that is the brand Zonnic. Other "illicit" brands as they are dubbed by Canada officials are sold in convenience stores and gas stations, but Zonnic is sold at all retail stores to adults of legal age and patrons are encouraged to only by Zonnic due to it being authorised by the Government.

Netherlands - As of last year (2023) the Netherlands officially banned the importation and sale of nicotine pouches in their country. Dutch Government had already imposed heavy regulations on nicotine pouches, where the strengths sold could only be very low, around 0.035mg of nicotine, but they then went one step further and completely banned nicotine pouches from sale in a bid to stop young people getting their hands on them.

It's worth checking the local laws on nicotine pouches of the country you're planning on visiting prior to travelling so you stay on the right side of the law. And also, this can help give you an indication of how many cans you'll need to pack in your case, as if nicotine pouches are banned from sale in the country you're travelling to, the last thing you'd want is to run out and not be able to buy nicotine pouches anywhere!

The Benefits Of Using Nic Pouches On A Plane

The benefits of using nicotine pouches really shine through when it comes to travelling, especially when flying on a plane.

Odourless - Despite being flavoured, nicotine pouches do not leave a lasting odour in the air or on your breath.

Smoke-free / Vapour-free - Nicotine pouches do not emit any form of smoke or vapour, meaning you can use them in places where smoking/vaping is not permitted such as airplanes.

Access to Nicotine At All Times - Our cans are small enough to fit in any bag or pocket, meaning you can have them in reach at any time while you're on a flight to satisfy your urges for nicotine.

Choosing the Best Strength Nicotine Pouches for Travelling

If you've got a long haul flight, you're going to want to take enough nicotine pouches with you to last for the duration of the flight so that your nicotine cravings are kept under control.

This is why choosing a nicotine strength that is on the mid to strong range would be more beneficial. This is because as they are stronger, you will be absorbing more nicotine which in the long run will leave you much more satisfied and keeping the cravings at bay at the same time.

If you use a lower strength nicotine pouch, you may find that you're using them more frequently and this could result in a can of nic pouches not lasting you as long as a stronger nicotine strength would as you would be using them more frequently.

With that said it is important to remember to only consume what you need to manage cravings rather than overdoing it with strengths far beyond what you normally use. Take time to understand the differences between nic pouch and e-liquid strengths if you are a vaper looking to supplement their habit with nic pouches on a flight.

Choosing to travel with nicotine pouches can actually make your holiday that little less stressful compared to taking e-liquids and e-cigarettes with you as your preferred nicotine sources. There are lots of restrictions and conflicting rules in other countries to factor in as a travelling vaper, as laid out in our blog about vaping and air travel, and EU laws around vaping. nic pouches by comparison are less regulated at present and are far more discreet when travelling.

If you're a vaper, you'll need to ensure that you have enough vape juice to last you for your holiday, as well as spare pods and coils for your vapes. On top of this, you must adhere to the current liquid restrictions currently in place for flying from the UK where no liquids within your hand luggage can exceed 100ml total volume.

Also, you cannot use an e-cigarette within any major airport or on any major airline either, meaning you may be waiting several hours between using your vape and getting your nicotine fix.

However, if you were to use nicotine pouches, you do not have to worry about liquid restrictions nor restrictions on where you can use them either. You can freely pop a pouch in while you're in the airport, whether that's in the lounge waiting to board your flight, or even whilst you're 30,000 feet in the air as we have discussed previously that there are no restrictions when it comes to the use of nicotine pouches.

If you are an e-cigarette user and have a long haul flight coming up, why not give nicotine pouches a try if you haven't already? They can act as a perfect substitute for nicotine for when you cannot have a puff on your vape. Check out our incredible range of flavours and strengths what we have available and find what suits you best based on your nicotine tolerance, and be sure to still be able to get your nicotine fix while you're jetting off on holiday!
