About The Klypse Mecha

Innokin were already a very well known brand within the vaping world, producing some of the best and most popular vape kits with the Klypse being one of the devices they’re arguably most known for.

Using the momentum from the popularity of the Klypse, Innokin have now created it’s big brother in the form of the Klypse Mecha and added a few new specs to it to make what was already good even better.

Featuring adjustable wattage settings, an OLED screen to display your wattage as well as battery life, and also a larger battery to give you a long lasting, powerful vape device.

What's In The Box?

This is what comes with the Innokin Klypse Mecha Vape Pod Kit:

- Klypse Mecha Device
- 2x Klypse Pods (0.6ohm and 1.2ohm)
- USB-C Charging Cable
- User Manual

Klypse Mecha Features

The Klypse Mecha essentially has everything you would want from a vape device if you’re looking for a more intermediate level vape kit to level up your vaping game.

Innokin have still stuck to their guns when it comes to making a compact vape device.  The Mecha is still small enough to fit inside the palm of your hand. It’s crazy to think how they managed to get everything which makes this device good into such a small casing!

The stand out feature for me is the fact that they have now added in variable wattage settings, something the original Klypse lacked. The wattage range goes from 5 watts to 30 watts, which is more than enough for a compact pod system.

You can also run it in voltage mode as well as wattage mode. I’ve never really used a device in voltage mode so I tend to stick with what I know and just use the wattage settings. It has a bigger battery compared to the Klypse, with the Mecha boasting a 900mah battery which is around average size battery for a pod vape.

Other features include:

- Maximum Power: 30 Watts
- Adjustable airflow
- 900mah Battery
- USB-C Fast Charging

First Impressions

The design of the Klypse Mecha is something which really caught my attention when I first saw it. It’s quite obviously drawn inspiration from the Steampunk type design, which has been seen on vape mods in the past, so it was good to see it bought back as I think it really does look good if done right.

I took the outer cellophane off the box and slid off the outer sleeve and was instantly greeted by the site of the Klypse Mecha in all of it’s steampunk glory in the Moonshadow Ink colourway. There’s a pod already preinstalled in the device as well as having a spare included in the box too.

I took the device out of the box to hold in hand, and it’s definitely got a bit more weight to it than what it’s predecessor the Klypse has, which is to be expected really. It’s not overly heavy though and still feels quite lightweight in hand.

The detail in the design is absolutely incredible and it’s one of the best looking vape devices I’ve owned for a long time. Innokin really have nailed it with this one!

It’s got a small red button that’s similar to a cog design, and this is also the wattage adjustment and menu navigation too as it can be rotated around, but more on this later.

In the bottom left corner of the device is the OLED screen which is relatively small, I’d say in between the size of a 5p and 10p coin. On one side of the device is the adjustable airflow, and the USB-C charging port is on the other side. Without even turning the device on, I was impressed.  Let’s see if it performed as well as it looked!

The back of the device doesn’t have the same design that the front does, but there’s a nice INNOKIN KLYPSE MECHA branding towards the bottom of the device which is handy in case you forget what the device you’re using is called!

There’s a protective layer of film over both the front and back which you can opt to leave on or peel off. A very small piece of attention to detail, but something I really like that has been done.

My Vaping Experience With The Kylpse Mecha

I couldn’t wait any longer to get this device up and running. I took out the pod which came in the device and filled it with some Strawberry Ice Bar Salts I had at hand. Make sure you remove the sticker from the base of the pod, as this is something I forgot to do and wondered why my vape wasn’t working when I turned it on!

Whilst I waited for the coil in the pod to become primed, it was time to fire the device up. Three quick clicks of the button turned the device on and within a matter of seconds, the screen was on and the device was ready. The screen is really bright and clear to read, with the wattage displayed, as well as the ohm of the coil from the pod. There’s also a outer ring of colour which is the battery life indicator.

I thought I’d get familiarised with the settings while I waited for the pod to be ready. It’s relatively simple and straight forward to work out and I’ll explain below;

Hold down power button for 1 second – This will make the wattage flash which means it can be adjusted by turning the small cog wheel around to your desired wattage range. Now, one of the only downsides I’ve found with this device is that this can be quite fiddly due to the size of the wheel being quite small, as well as it being quite sensitive to being pushed down, which then puts you back to the start screen.

Two quick clicks of the button will bring up the “Menu” and there’s three options you can choose from;

Coil – This is where you can either set the device to Wattage mode or Voltage Mode. Simply turn the wheel to highlight your preference and hold the button for 1 second and it’ll select it.

Settings – You’ll have the option of selecting Time, which is where you can set the time and it’ll display on your device, pretty niche but I kind of like this option. Screen is where you can set the time for how long your screen stays on while the device isn’t being used and finally Query, which is where you can see your puff counter and also reset it if you wanted to.

Cutoff – This is where you can set a timer that will automatically cut your vape off if you vape longer than the time that you’ve set. Again, a niche feature but one that I like is included here.

I chose to leave the wattage setting at 15w as I was using a 0.6ohm pod so this is perfect mid range wattage for that coil resistance. It had been 10 minutes since I filled my pod up so I’d say it was primed and ready to go!

Dropping the pod back into the device, it automatically registered it was a 0.6ohm coil as it displayed on the screen under the wattage. I adjusted the airflow to leave just one notch open as I prefer a tighter draw with my vape. I took my first inhale and WOW is all I can say.

Despite only being set at 15 watts, this gave a really punchy, but smooth throat hit from the Bar Salts and the flavour was absolutely incredible. Vapour production was a modest amount that wasn’t too much but was also considerably more than what the Klypse previously gave out.

I ramped the wattage up slightly to 18 watts which is the maximum you’d want to use it on with a 0.6ohm pod and this really did give a good punchy vape which was good, but a bit too much for me, so decided to turn it back down to 15 watts as that was my sweet spot.

This device really did hit the spot and meet my expectations, and I was keen to keep using it and really put it through it’s paces in preparation for writing this review.

The Klypse Pods

One of the main appeals of the Mecha to me is the fact it uses the same pods as the original Klypse. I’ve had so many vape devices which are made by the same company but each time the pods are a different design, and not compatible with the upgraded devices. This then means you have to spend more on getting different compatible pods.

You get two different ohm resistance pods in the box, 0.6ohm and 1.2ohm, which is perfect if you want to experiment with getting a true MTL vape with the 1.2ohm pod or a slightly restricted DTL vape with the 0.6ohm pod.

I’ve been using the 0.6ohm pod for just over a week now and it’s still holding up strong, with no signs of burnt cotton taste when I vape which I’m impressed about. I’ve also used different types of vape juice and flavours over the last week which I’ll discuss below.

What Vape Juice Works Best With The Klypse Mecha?

If you’ve read my previous review of the Vaporesso Xros Pro, you’ll know that I like to mix it up my vape juice, constantly changing flavours as well as what type of vape juice I use, flitting between either Nic Salts or Freebase nicotine vape juice.

I used both of the above mentioned in the Klypse Mecha during my review period and both of them tasted amazing and caused no issues to the coil lifespan at all. I used Sweet Strawberry Ice Bar Salts and also Cherry Bakewell 6mg Freebase from our Original £1 range.

The Mecha really bought out the flavour of both of these vape juices, and at 15 watts, the nicotine hit and throat hit was spot on. The nic salts felt smooth and not too overpowering, and the 6mg Freebase had a nice subtle throat hit that was full of flavour too.

I wouldn’t recommend using High VG vape juice in these pods as I don’t think the coils would be up for the task, despite being able to be run at a higher wattage.

Charging And Battery Life

The Mecha came with 90% charge out of the box, so I deemed that good enough to use straight away and see how long the battery lasted for before I’d need to put it on charge.

As mentioned, the battery life is indicated by the coloured ring which surrounds the wattage on the screen display. Green is 30% or more, Yellow is 10%-30% and Red is less than 10% so it’s pretty clear as and when you need to put your device on charge.

I used the device all day at 15 watts and it wasn’t until early the next day that it went into the red and needed a charge. This is really impressive, as 900mah might not be the biggest battery size, but it’s certainly enough to give all day usage on a full charge. And thanks to it’s fast charge capability, it charged from 7% to 95% in just over 30 minutes, which again, is very impressive!

Another small thing which gets plus points from me is the charging port is on the side of the device. This means you can stand it up while its charging rather than it being laid down. I’ve had experiences where my vape juice has leaked because the pod/tank has been laid on its side.

Final Thoughts

Overall, I’m very impressed with the Klypse Mecha and it’s certainly lived up to my expectations! I always had a soft spot for the Klypse, so I knew the Mecha would be just as good and I wasn’t wrong.

It ticks all of the boxes for what you want from a vape, good battery life, fast charging capability, incredible flavour and good vapour production from the pods & coils, and adjustable wattage to round it off.

The only downside to it that stands out to me is the cog wheel is quite small and can be a bit fiddly to adjust the wattage, as well as it being sensitive to being pushed in which then resets the menu or turns the device fully off.

I’d highly recommend getting yourself a Klypse Mecha if you’re seeking an upgrade from your Klypse or other simple pod device, as this is both user friendly and not overly complicated to get your head round.

The Klypse Mecha is also one of the best vape kits to take on holiday with you if you're planning a summer break as it's small and compact design makes it the perfect pocket sized travel companion!

The Klypse Mecha is available for £24.99 from LiQuid and you can choose from one of six different colours!

"I've been wanting to try the Klypse Mecha for a while now, ever since I first saw it launch onto the vaping market so I was thrilled to finally get my hands on one.

I've been so used to slimline pen style pod vape devices, so to get something more boxy like the Mecha was a bit different to what I have been previously been using, but it didn't dissapoint.

If you're looking for an upgrade to your current vape device, I couldn't recommend the Klypse Mecha more, it's one that I won't be putting down in a hurry!
