What is Nicotine Free Vape Juice?

Nicotine free vape juice or 0mg nicotine vape juice is exactly what it says on the label, a vape juice flavour that contains no nicotine at all and is just VG, PG and flavouring.

Shortfill e-liquid bottles are sold as nicotine free, and normally are available in either 50ml, 75ml or 100ml bottles. The reason they are nicotine free is because of the TPD regulations set out in 2016 which stated that any bottles of vape juice which contain nicotine must not exceed 10ml in volume.

By choosing to vape with nicotine free vape juice, you won't feel any of the effects that normally come with vaping e-liquids that contain nicotine. 

If you've had previous experience with nicotine, either from smoking or vaping nicotine containing e-liquids, you'll know how the effects feel and be used to that "nicotine rush" effect which can happen whilst the nicotine absorbs into the body.

We would not recommend vaping without nicotine for those who have previously never used nicotine products, whether that be vape juices or smoking cigarettes.

Vaping is considered to be the end point for people who are wanting to transition away from smoking and gradually start reducing their nicotine intake. 

Nicotine is a highly addictive chemical, and if you previously have never used any form of nicotine products, once you start ingesting and absorbing nicotine, an addiction as well as a dependency can be easily formed. 

Pro's of Nicotine-Free Vaping

There are a few pro's as well as con's for vaping with 0mg nicotine e-liquids, and we've highlighted some of them below:

Reducing Nicotine Consumption

When transitioning away from smoking cigarettes to vaping, you'll want to be using a nicotine strength in your vape juice which is relative to how many cigarettes you'd previously smoked per day. And the ideal scenario would be you'd gradually wean yourself off nicotine by lowering the nicotine strength of your vape juice over time. 

There's no set period of time of when you should do this, and it should only be done once you feel you are ready. But as you gradually lower your nicotine strength down, your dependency for nicotine would lower as well, and eventually you'll no longer require nicotine in your e-liquid.

Advantages of Vaping Without Nicotine

As we mentioned, nicotine is a highly addictive chemical, but contrary to popular belief, it is not one of the harmful chemicals which are found in cigarette smoke, and it's never been scientifically proven to be one of the causes of deadly diseases associated with smoking. It is the carcinogenic chemicals that are the cause, which nicotine is not one. 

By choosing to vape without nicotine, there'll not be any risk of an addiction forming.
And if you've lowered your nicotine strength down in your e-liquid, vaping nicotine free e-liquid will stop the chance of an addiction from reforming as well.

Con's of Nicotine-Free Vaping

Very Minimal to No Throat Hit At All

A throat hit is the effect what happens when you inhale on a cigarette or a vape, and the smoke/vapour hits the back of your throat, and if it contains nicotine, then this is what really gives it that extra little kick. 

Choosing to vape nicotine free vape juice could result in a very minimal or no throat hit at all as there won't be any nicotine to provide the effect. This is something that people, most notably ex-smokers, will look to replicate when moving onto vaping so bear this in mind! 

If you used 50/50 vape juice, then the PG which is used can provide a minimal throat hit. However, if you were using high VG vape juice, the PG levels will be very low and you won't experience a throat hit.

Can Make Quitting Smoking Harder

Choosing to vape without nicotine is something you must be sure is the right thing for you, especially if you are looking to quit smoking or cut down on the nicotine strength in your vape juice.

Opting to do this too soon may result in you suffering from nicotine withdrawals, and the cravings for nicotine will become more intense and you could end up suffering from some adverse side effects, such as headaches which is far from the ideal scenario.

We would recommend that you begin using a vape juice with a nicotine strength appropriate to what you'd previously been getting from smoking, and gradually begin to lower the nicotine strength in your vape juice.
