Planned Royal Mail Strike Action

You may have seen some media coverage about the planned industrial action to be taken by the Royal Mail over the summer. The Communication Workers Union have made an announcement of their intention to stage 4 days of industrial action.  

The Royal Mail are continuing their contingency planning and there is the possibility that the dispute will be resolved as talks continue, but you can rest assured that the LiQuid team will be doing all it can to minimise any distruption in the delivery of your orders.

29/09/2022 UPDATE: The Communication Workers Union (CWU) has called on its members who collect, sort and deliver parcels and letters to take further national strike action on the following dates:

  • Friday 30 September 2022
  • Saturday 1 October 2022
  • Thursday 13th October 2022
  • Thursday 20th October 2022
  • Tuesday 25th October 2022
  • Monday 28th November 2022

Further dates have also been announced by the CWU for functional strike action which impacts parts of our operation on the following:

  • Processing, Distribution, International, Collections, Admin: 3rd, 9th, 15th, 24th November and 1st December 2022
  • Delivery: 4th, 10th, 16th, 25th November and 2nd December 2022
  • Network: 2nd, 8th, 14th, 23rd, 30th November 2022

Royal Mail is ready to talk further with the CWU to try and avert industrial action. We’re sorry this strike action is likely to cause you some disruption. We will be working to get our services back to normal as quickly as possible.

Royal Mail has well-developed contingency plans, which we will be updating over the next few days to respond to the new dates, but we cannot fully replace the daily efforts of our frontline workforce. We’ll be doing what we can to keep services running, but you should expect significant disruption on dates when strike action is taking place.

18/08/2022 UPDATE: Below is the statement from Royal Mail:

"The Communication Workers Union (CWU) has called on its members who collect, sort, distribute and deliver parcels and mail to take strike action on Friday 26 August, Wednesday 31 August and for two days on Thursday 8 and Friday 9 September 2022. Royal Mail has well-developed contingency plans, but they cannot fully replace the daily efforts of its frontline workforce. We will be doing what we can to keep services running, but customers should expect significant disruption.

We’re really sorry for the disruption that this strike action is likely to cause to you. We want to reassure you will do everything we can to minimise disruption and get your services back to normal as quickly as possible.

Whilst Royal Mail understands that even a threat of industrial action causes concern, you can continue to send your parcels and letters and should post items as early as possible in advance of the strike dates."

Please note, unfortunately, these delays caused by the Royal Mail strikes are out our control. As a result, this will affect all our delivery options. With our Next Day Delivery service being stopped temporarily during the strike period on Tuesday 23rd August 2022. We advise that you place your order earlier, if you can.
