How Long Does A Vape Pod Last?

What Is A Pod Vape?
Pod vapes take the e-cigarette formula and simplify it; they still have a battery, but instead of having a built-in or screw-on tank, they utilise a cartridge called a vape pod.
Vape pods often have coils built into them, which means when the coil eventually fails, as they all do (learn more about coil lifespan here), rather than having to open up a tank to replace the coil then building it back up, in most cases, such as with the Innokin Klypse, you can just throw the whole pod away, and pop a fresh one with a new intrinsic coil onto your battery.
Most vape pods will come with the coil already preinstalled, so when the coil burns out, the whole pod is disposed of and replaced with a fresh new one. But there are some vape pod kits, like the Aspire Flexus Q, which uses vape pods that have removable and replaceable coils.
There is no difference in performance between a pod that has a built-in coil and a pod that uses replacement coils, contrary to popular belief. We would say that pods that already have the coils installed offer a little more convenience as you don't have to get your hands messy with vape juice when changing coils, or have to worry about whether you've put the coil in properly.
Do Pod Vapes Have Adjustable Wattage?
Pod vape kits offer a very convenient and user friendly approach to vaping, as most of them on the market today do not have adjustable wattage features, as the pods are just dropped in to the device and the device does all the work of registering the coil and setting the wattage output without the need to do anything yourself.
However, there are some pod vape kits that do have adjustable wattage, which can be adjusted based on the ohms of the coil housed within the pod. This is a good step up for vapers looking to experiment with different features and buffer their vaping knowledge and experience.

How Long Should A Vape Pod Last?
Typically, a vape pod should last anywhere from 7 days to 14 days, but there are a few variables which can alter this time frame as we explain below:
Frequency of Use - If you're a frequent user of your pod vape kit, then you may find that your vape pod won't last the full duration mentioned above. This is because the coil will be heated up more, which in turn will make the cotton detoriate faster.
Wattage Output - If you're using your pod vape kit on a higher wattage, this is going to be making the coil work harder, heating it up to higher temperatures and this will then wear the cotton down and ultimately make your vape pod last that little bit less than the 7-14 day mark. In most cases, the optimum wattage range for your coil will be written on the coil or pod itself - take note to stay within this range to get more from your vape pod.
Flavour or Brand of Vape Juice - What flavour or brand of vape juice you use in your vape pods may also affect their lifespan. Typically, if you use sweeter vape juice flavours, these are prone to making your coils last for less time, because of the amount of sweetener used, which leaves residue on the coil after heating, causing it to degrade faster over time.
There's also some top brands of vape juice that are "notorious" coil killers, as they're incredibly sweet and this can cause your pods to not last as long compared to using different brands of vape juice.
What Is The Best Vape Juice To Use In A Vape Pod?

Tips On How To Make Your Vape Pod Last Longer
There are a few tips that we want to share with you when it comes to making your vape pod a little longer:
- Use The Correct Vape Juice For Your Coil
As we have mentioned, the coils within vape pods come in varying ohms resistance, and it's pivotal that you use the correct vape juice to work properly alongside your coil. For example, if you're using a 0.7ohm or higher ohms resistance vape pod, then we would recommend sticking to using vape juice which is a 50VG 50PG base mix. This ensures that it will properly absorb and pass through the cotton of the coil properly as the device will be operating at a lower wattage.
If you use a pod that's 0.6ohms or lower, then High VG vape juice is best used with these pods as the wattage output will be higher and it will properly heat your vape juice up and turn into vapour with no issues. If you were to use High VG vape juice with a higher ohms coil, it likely won't heat up properly as not enough power will be getting to the coil and it stands a chance of clogging your coil up and ultimately burning the cotton.
- Set Your Device To The Right Wattage
It is absolutely crucial knowing what wattage to set your vape pod out so that it's within the correct range for the ohms of your coil. If you run the wattage too high, the coil will heat up too fast and burn the cotton of your coil rendering it unusable. And if you ran the wattage too low, the coil would not heat up properly and cause the coil to burn out.
- Store Your Vape Juice Correctly
Make sure you store both your liquids and your device in a sensible location when you aren’t using them. Direct sunlight and extreme temperatures at both ends of the scale will make your e-liquid turn dark and can impact flavour and even nicotine distribution – not good! If the liquid turns brown while in your pod it can corrupt the coil and leave a nasty taste that just won’t budge, even if the coil itself is fine – so be careful!
